Breaking news: Government moves into caretaker modePosted: August 31, 2012 | |
The present sitting of Parliament has ended with most of the Bills withdrawn by the outgoing Government. The majority of Bills remained to be debated, but time ran out.
Following yesterday’s boycott by the opposition of the Amendment to the Utilities Regulatory Authority Act, it appears the Government recognises that it has reached its expiry date and has now moved into caretaker mode.
Many will feel let down by the failure of the administration to address particular legislative challenges. Others will feel relieved unwelcome future political compromise has been averted.
