Vanuatu Daily News Digest | 2 new ministers and comfortable Gov’t majority

Radio Vanuatu News this morning began with the Leader of the Opposition, facing allegations of activity contrary to the Leadership Code, depositing a motion of no confidence against the government of Prime Minister Joe Natuman at 3.30 yesterday afternoon. Opposition Leader Carcasses is one of nineteen involved in the bribery allegations under investigation.

Daily Post this morning began with the appointment of two new ministers, Kalvau Moli replacing Sato Kilman at Foreign Affairs, and Hosea Neveu replacing Alfred Carlot at Justice.

MP Sato Kilman yesterday joined the Carcasses bloc, together with MPs Dunstan Hilton and Isaac Hamariliu. However, MP and Minister George Wells of their party remained with the Natuman Government.

With the two new ministers the Government side number is now comfortably 28, with the possibility of rising and echoing the result of the motion which a year ago brought Natuman the leadership and a return to the values which the country has held dear since Independence.

We were declared and recognized internationally as disaster zone. But with all these news concerning the unsettlement of government due to MPs allegation, removing and replacing MPs with portfollios is just contributing to the disaster that is already here.

Better to put put citizen first rather than selfinterest. We are seen by the world, the donas towards cyclone Pam are seeing what is happening.

As a citizen please politicians look to the interest of the nation not the corner of you pocket.

    Thank you
