Cyclone update: Tatiana to the left of us, Winston to the rightPosted: February 12, 2016
…Here we are, stuck in the middle!
Cyclone Tatiana was named by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology last night and is currently a Category 1 cyclone. Cyclone Winston is a Category 2 cyclone and is currently about 305km east of Efate, travelling south.
Both cyclones are moving away from Vanuatu, and neither is likely to make landfall in Vanuatu. The Vanuatu Meteorological Service has issued a cyclone warning as a precaution, however: “Strong to gale force winds 50KM/HR to 70 KM/HR [are] expected over most eastern parts of TAFEA province within the next 6 to 12 hours“, says VMS, and rough seas and heavy swells are also expected during the next 24 hours in the south.
