PM Salwai yesterday launched the electrification project of Unelco at Paunagisu village, North Efate. The government has worked with MP Jerry Kanas following differences of opinion concerning the project. The Independent MP worked closely with land owners and chiefs to bring the project to a happy conclusion. The first 300 users were signed up yesterday. The PM commended Unelco for its commitment to stay with the project and for seeing the electrification need of the rural population. (Radio Vanuatu)
PM Charlot Salwai has returned from New Caledonia with good news for students concerning scholarship funding to be given by France and New Caledonia. As well as the scholarships, the sum of aid money made available will be able to implement French cultural proposals and the project to install online learning throughout Vanuatu. The New Caledonian Government is satisfied with the offer and PM Salwai agreed the plan fits well with the Vanuatu Government’s objectives and the preservation of francophonie. (Radio Vanuatu)
The Chamber of Commerce (VCCI) announced in yesterday’s Daily Post that they hoped to have their recommendations on the government’s draft subdivision policy revised this week. Their committee has met several times now to discuss the government’s working document. They will then be seeking a meeting with the Minister of Lands to further explain their suggestions.
