Most of the media mileage in the police saga is being made by the former Police Commissioner Joshua Bong, whose commission to head the forces ended last Friday after the Constitution Day celebration. Bong gave details of 10 senior officers being suspended (until this morning) on Radio Vanuatu News yesterday, again this morning and in Daily Post today. An official announcement on the matter will be made this morning.
Meanwhile, yesterday, outgoing Caretaker Minister George Wells felt there would be unlikely to be instability as a result of the divisions within the uniformed services — the Police and VMF. He said there was much confusion within the top ranks of the services. He offered no clarification to the confusion himself. Little care seems to have been given by the caretaker Government to make sure these services stay functioning to protect people’s lives and property.
